Having creative outlets has always been cathartic for me. However, I typically don’t create art just for the sake of it. I’ve found I prefer to have an intention behind the piece and a person in mind to gift it to, or I need to have a deep connection with the subject of my creation, which is the case here.

I feel privileged to call the inspiration of these pieces my friends. They are horses who have taught me many valuable lessons, they have supported me through some of the toughest times, and they fill my heart to the absolute brim with peace and happiness.

For our 2024 exhibition, Courtenay donated the pieces Know You by Heart, Smile with the Rising Sun, and The Joy They Bring.
